Synopsis
Cartouches are symbolic representation of data that users can manipulate physically. For example, their presence on slots can be sensed to load data or trigger actions. Casiers are modular containers that can sense the presence of one or more cartouches, that can be joined together according to applications' requirements, and that can be equipped with a rear wall to afford stacking. The proposed application is to replace all the remaining keyboard and mouse actions from ArcheoTUI's GUI workspace through two collapsed casiers, by physically managing fragments' collections, fragments assignation to left and right hands, and fragments assemblies.
Casiers' parts are built from laser cutting and assembled with nuts and bolts. The source code was written in C and C++ under Debian Lenny, using the V4L2 library to grab frames from webcam's cards, and Qt 4.5 for the configuration window. Rewriting ArcheoTUI's workspace was initiated with C++, Qt, and Irrlicht.
