Synopsis
The previous ITAME project resulted in a first prototype called CairnFORM: a circular shape-shifting histogram to display ambient forecasts of the availability of locally produced renewable energy in public spaces, in order to enable the shifting of energy demand through storage means. For example, in the workplace, this prototype explored the implementation of an eight-week "pretext" energy practice based on shifting the demand for laptops using their batteries as a storage medium that is now widely available. The new PlantFORM prototype pursues this goal with three objectives: to test a new "bio-inspired" prototype, to test the accompaniment of the practice over an extended deployment period of six months, and to calculate its energy balance to verify its viability.
The PlantFORM prototype is a bio-inspired histogram [3] whose deployment of its leaves represents the availability rate of locally produced renewable energy for the time frame of a working day. The goal of the project is to be able to test the use of this prototype in a six-month longitudinal experiment in offices [1]. In particular, the experimentation will compare the effect of the influence of the data presentation modality between the physical PlantFORM prototype and a graphical interface to avoid user fatigue and to better maintain user motivation over time. Regardless of the offices, the participants recruited should be volunteers already inclined to act for the environment. The possible difference in environmental motivation between different offices will be measured [2] to help interpret possible variations in energy practice achievement between offices.
